Paul Gregory Granholm

January 6, 1951 — November 17, 2013

Paul Gregory Granholm, age 62, of Roseburg, passed away Sunday, November 17.

Paul was born to the late Jackson and Doris Granholm on January 6, 1951, in Seattle. His family relocated to Thousand Oaks, California, in 1959. Paul graduated from Thousand Oaks High School in 1969 and attended Moorpark College. He married Patricia Fruhling in 1973. Paul and Pat moved to Roseburg in 1977 when Paul took a job as a computer and electronics engineer at Sun Studs. After more than 20 years in that position, he left Sun Studs to become a managing partner at Look-it Activewear, a family business created by Pat.

Paul enjoyed a wide circle of friends and family and was known for his occasionally irreverent sense of humor that sometimes hid his loving and compassionate heart. He was an active racquetball player for much of his life, and he participated in many local theater productions, both as an actor and a backstage technician. Paul had a love of life and loved his family more than anything.

Paul is survived by his beloved wife Patricia, daughter and son-in-law Melissa and Ryan Smith, granddaughters Madeleine and Vivienne, three brothers and two sisters.

A public memorial will be held Friday, November 22, 4 p.m. at Centerstage Theater in Whipple Fine Arts Center, UCC. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the UCC Foundation (memo to theater department) or to Saving Grace Pet Adoption Center, 943 Del Rio Road, Roseburg 97471.
