Pearl Myrtle (Lengele) Day, 101, passed away on December 17, 2015. Pearl was born on October 22nd 1914 in Albany, Oregon to Ida (Harnish) and Marvin Lengele. Pearl graduated from Leaburg High School at Leaburg, Oregon, the only Senior, and attended University of Oregon where she obtained her Elementary Education Teaching Certificate. Pearl taught school in a one room school in George, Oregon until joining the Woman's Auxiliary, the 3rd Woman to join from Oregon in September 1943, attaining the rank of Staff Sargent and discharged in October 1945. In May of 1946 she married Kenneth Day of Estacada, Oregon in Vancouver, Washington and moved to Winston, Oregon in 1950. Pearl taught first grade in the Winston Dillard School District for many years. Pearl is survived by her sister Edythe Lakin of Prineville, Oregon, Daughter Dorothy (Randy) Hoskins of Woodinville, Washington, Son George (Jeanette) Day of Camas Valley, Oregon and Daughter Margaret Hammer of Salem, Oregon. 4 grandsons and 4 great-grandsons. She was preceded in death by her parents, 5 brothers and Husband. Services will be held in the Spring at a time to be announced.
