PHRONIA (MICKIE) MAE BOURASSA
Age 87, passed away on Wednesday, August 31, 2011, surrounded by her daughters at Callahan Village in Roseburg, Oregon. Phronia was born the youngest of five children to Thomas Pierce Perry and Annie Laurie Finley-Perry on November 13, 1923, in Waco, Texas. She was part of five generations of the Reverend George Washington Finley family that resided in Douglas County. Phronia graduated from Roseburg High School in 1942 where she met her husband Donald Eugene Bourassa. They were married on October 29, 1944, at the First Baptist Church in Roseburg, Oregon. She and Donald built a home in Tenmile, Oregon, where they resided for many years and raised their three daughters, Donna Jean, Martha Ann, and Doris Marie. Together they owned and operated Bourassa Logging Company. Their girls remember washing and riding in the trucks as children. Phronia also worked for the Winston-Dillard School District, Roseburg School District, and Douglas County Courthouse as switchboard operator for many years. She retired from Douglas County Purchasing in 1987. Phronia enjoyed bowling, golfing, gardening, sewing, and crafting, participating in the Christmas Fair at the Douglas County Fairgrounds for many years. She was a longtime, active member of the First Baptist and First Conservative Baptist Churches in Roseburg, Oregon, until her health prevented her attending. Phronia is survived by her daughters and son-in-laws, Donna and Lary LeGat of Mesa, Arizona, Martha and George Leveque of Roseburg, Oregon, and Doris and Preston O'Hara of Roseburg, Oregon; seven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband; parents; brothers Clifford Perry, Willard Perry, and Carl Perry; and sister, Georgia Gamble. Private inurnment will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 8, 2011, in Roseburg Memorial Gardens where Phronia will be placed to rest with her sister. Pastor Ron Laeger of Wellspring Bible Fellowship will officiate. Wilson's Chapel of the Roses is in charge of arrangements. Contributions may be left at Wells Fargo Bank, 1701 NW Garden Valley Boulevard, in Roseburg, Oregon, 97471. The family wishes to extend a heartfelt "thank you" to Dr. Nathan Raj, Callahan Village, and Amedisys Hospice.
