Phyllis Ness

Phyllis Louise Ness went to be with the Lord on March 29, 2018. She was born on July 3, 1923, to Junious Clayton and Signe Susanna Skald Huffine in Los Angeles, CA. Phyllis grew up in Los Angeles. She graduated from Fairfax High School in 1941.


As a young woman she worked at the movie studios where her father and brother also worked. Later she also worked at Hughes Tool Company where she met her husband Thomas Ness. They were married July 5th, 1972, in Reno, Nevada.


Phyllis and Tom moved from California to Roseburg, Oregon, so she could be closer to her daughter, Cheryl Peck.



Tom and Phyllis loved to play golf. They spent many hours at the Country Club in Roseburg. In her later years her favorite pastime was watching golf on TV.


After Tom's death she moved to Linus Oaks in Roseburg. Phyllis had many friends she made over the years. She would get together with her friends for exercise and have coffee afterwards. She lived a long and caring life.


Phyllis is preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Ness; her daughter, Cheryl Peck; her parents; and brother, Clayton Huffine.


She is survived by her nephews, Ward Huffine, Timothy Huffine; and nieces, Sandy Bracken, Charla Graves and Lorraine Barker.


She was truly loved and respected by her family and friends.



The family is thankful to Dr. Lee and Mercy Hospital for their care. The family also wants to thank Jeannie, Teresa, Sheila and Patty for her wonderful care.


She was truly the greatest of the greatest generation.
