Pleasant (Tiny) Harold Johns was born in Cathlamet, WA on 4 March 1933. Tiny attended grade schools in Cathlamet and Skamokawa, WA until the 5th grade. His family moved across the Columbia River to Westport, OR where he finished out his schooling. He had the honor of being in the last graduating class from Westport High School Class of '52. The school consolidated with Clatskanie the following year. After graduating from high school, Tiny hired on at the mill in Westport where he worked until 1953. The Korean War was on and Tiny was drafted into the US Army for duty in Korea. He arrived in Korea in the late spring of that year. After serving ten months in Korea he was transferred to Japan. He spent three and a half years in Japan. It was during this time that he met and married Nobuko Osako. After returning to the states, he found himself in Sandy, OR. After seven years of working in the woods, he moved to Kalispell, MT. He worked for Plum Creek Timber Co. for thirty two years, operating a forklift loading plywood into boxcars. After retiring from the plywood plant, Tiny and Nobuko moved back to Oregon. He chose the Roseburg area. He spent his retirement years working as a Range Officer at the Roseburg Rod and Gun Club and was a member of the Roseburg YMCA. He enjoyed swimming every morning and looked forward to coffee and chatting with some of the other regulars at the "Y". He was also an active member of the #16 Oakland, OR Masonic Lodge. He loved watching and attending the American Legion baseball games at Legion Field in Roseburg. Tiny is survived by his wife Nobuko and several nieces and nephews. Tiny will be missed. A viewing will be held for Tiny on Monday, September 14, 2015 from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m at Wilson's Chapel of the Roses. Tiny's Celebration of Life will be held at The Father's House in Sutherlin, OR on Wednesday, September 16, 2015 at 2:00 p.m.
