Raold G. Stroup (Jock) age 85 of
Roseburg, Oregon passed away August 1st, 2016 in Roseburg, Oregon. He was born February 15th 1931 in Sioux City, Iowa to George Stroup and Cecilia Allard. Jock as he like to be called, spent part of his childhood in San Diego California before relocating to Melrose, Oregon with his step father, mother and seven siblings. Jock graduated from Roseburg High School in June 1950. He briefly worked at a poultry farm, before enlisting in the US Navy on Pearl Harbor Day, December 7th, 1941. He was Honorably Discharged in 1954, and promptly moved back to Roseburg where he would meet the woman that would become his wife in 1955, Janice Loretta Mauro. Jock briefly worked at Roseburg Forest Products before transferring to Flurry Supply Company where he worked as a salesman, delivering wire rope to loggers all over Oregon. He also was employed by McWhite Wire Rope Company. He was often regarded as one of the best Salesmen for his charismatic personality, friendly demeanor and dedication. He was also widely referred to as the fastest long splicer of wire rope.
Jock was preceded in death by his wife, father, mother and brother who died in the Vietnam War. He is survived by his daughter; Shannon Fugate, son in law; Tim Fugate and grandson; Tyson Fugate along with six sibling's, Richard (Maxine) Dow, Kitty Roden, Bob Kinyon, Margi ( Jeffery) Lenz, Mary(Bill) Wonner, George Bradley and numerous nieces and nephews.
Jock loved hunting, fishing and traveling and especially time spent with his dear family and friends.
