Raymond Herbert Severson

January 23, 1930 — June 29, 2012

Raymond Herbert Severson was born January 23,1930 in International Falls, Minnesota. He passed away at the age of 82 with his family by his side on Friday, June 29, 2012 at Chanteles Loving Touch Memory Care. He grew up in Klamath Falls and Chiloquin, Oregon. He was an All Star Basketball Player in high school winning state championships. He married Eva Briggs on August 12,1947. They raised their three children on a farm 16 miles east of Sutherlin. They were married 54 years until her death in 1998. Ray's main focus in life was his family. He took great joy in humoring and teasing his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He always looked forward to his annual hunting trip to Eastern Oregon with his family. He was a logger a majority of his life and loved the outdoors. The family would like to thank Chantele, Lisa, Christine and the wonderful caregivers at Chanteles for their love and care they gave to our precious Father. Raymond is survived by his three children: Ronald Severson (Patricia) of Lake Oswego, Oregon; Gary Severson (Terri) of Sutherlin, Oregon; Judy Seehawer (Rudy) of McMinnville, Oregon; eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren and his brother Leon Severson (Jonette) of Oakland, Oregon. He was preceded in death by his wife Eva in 1998, his second wife Katherine in 2002 and his sister Jean Ortis. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday July 7, 2012 at Sutherlin Chapel Of The Roses, 311 E. Central at 11:00 a.m. Viewing will be from 8:30 to 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Rays name to: St. Vincent De Paul in Sutherlin, Oregon.
