Reuel G. Phillips Jr. was born April 20, 1933 in Shelbina, Missouri to Reuel G. (Phil) Sr. and Lotus Phillips. He passed away on August 15, 2018 at the age of 85. Reuel lived in Shelbina until 1942, when his family began traveling west, as his father worked as a carpenter supporting the war effort. They moved back to Shelbina after the war in 1945. In July 1947, the Phillips family moved to Roseburg, Oregon. Reuel graduated from Roseburg High in 1951 and began working as a carpenter for Todd Building Co. In June 1951, Reuel met the love of his life, Wilma Howe. They were married in November 1951 and resided in Roseburg all their lives. August 1960, they purchased their home in Garden Valley and lived there for 58 years. Reuel went to work for the Singer Co. in January 1955 and worked there until 1967. In 1968, Reuel and Wilma founded The Sewing Bee in downtown Roseburg, owning and operating it until retiring in 1996. Reuel loved to fly airplanes. He owned several airplanes over his 25 years of flying. Reuel enjoyed fishing, hunting, traveling, helping others and building projects. He was active in the Roseburg Downtown Development, Elks Club, Kiwanis and the Westside Christian Church. Reuel and Wilma traveled Europe, Mexico, Canada, Alaska, Hawaii and most of the United States. Reuel loved his 2 children, Mike Phillips and Patty Paul, his 2 grandchildren, Jared Links and Kristine Harrison, his 6 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
Reuel was predeceased by his father and mother, his in-laws Warren and Wanda Howe, his wife Wilma, daughter Patty Paul and his favorite dog Dude. His is survived by his son Mike Phillips and his wife Janel, son in-law Robb Paul, brother Roy Phillips, stepmother Pauline Phillips, his grandchildren, great grandchildren, and his great-great grandchild.

Services will be held at The Westside Christian Church on Monday, August 27, 2018 at 10 am. In lieu of flowers please donate to the Westside Christian Church.
