Robert W. Franklin

ROBERT W. FRANKLIN, Jr. of Sutherlin, Oregon died November 13, 2014. He was born in Cordell, Oklahoma on April 5, 1922 to Robert W. Franklin Sr. and Maude M. (Powers) Franklin. Robert moved from Albany, Oregon to the Sutherlin area with his wife and family in 1947 where he worked in the lumber industry. He retired from Roseburg Lumber Company in 1978. A military veteran, he served in the Army Air Corps during World War II from 1942 until 1944. After his discharge from military service, he returned to Yakima, Washington where he met and married Evelyn Mullinex. He is survived by one brother Edward Franklin of Fayetteville, Arkansas; children Jim and wife Diane of Corvallis, Oregon, Ruby Hatchard of North Bend, Oregon, Robert Irons and her husband Bill of Sutherlin, Oregon and Tim and his wife Kathy of Springfield, Illinois, Eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Robert was preceded in death by his parents; Evelyn, his wife of 50 years; three brothers and one granddaughter. Services will be held at 2:00 pm, Wednesday, November 19, 2014 at the Church of Christ, 1400 Oak St., Oakland. Burial will be at Valley View Cemetery in Sutherlin. Memorial contributions are to be split between the Church of Christ and the Kidney Association of Oregon.
