Robert Milton Moldenhauer 92 of Roseburg, Oregon passed away Saturday, August 25, 2012 at his home. He was born November 12, 1919 in Elk River, Minnesota. Robert grew up on a dairy farm raising Guernsey cows and graduated from Elk River High School in 1937. Robert was active in the local FFA and a member of the Dairy Cattle Judging Team of Elk River. He spent his summers as a lifeguard at Orono Lake. After graduation he enrolled in the School of Agriculture at the University of Minnesota. WWII interrupted Robert's school studies and he was drafted into the Army in 1946. He served during the war as an X-ray technician in the European field hospitals until his honorable discharge in 1946. After marrying Lillian Nelson of Greeley, Colorado in March 1946, he re-entered college at the University of Northern Colorado. He received his B.A. and Master's Degrees in Industrial Arts and Physical Education. He started his teaching profession as a coach at Johnstown High School in Johnstown, Colorado before moving to Roseburg. In 1953 he became the Head of Industrial Arts Department at Roseburg High School. Robert moved to Umpqua Community College in 1964 to become Vocational Director. He retired from UCC as Dean of Students in 1985. During life in Roseburg he was an active member of our community. He was a member of the State of Oregon Citizen Involvement Committee, a Wildlife Safari docent volunteer, a Douglas County Planning Advisory Committee volunteer, and a past member of Master Gardeners and Optimist Club. He also served as a President of the Umpqua Community College Concert Association. He is preceded in death by father and mother, Ernest and Jeanette, and by brother Irvin all of Elk River, Minnesota. He is survived by his wife Lillian, daughter Debra Anderson of Libertyville, Illinois, daughter and son-in-law Vicki and Ric Tarbox of San Diego, California, grandson Rory Tarbox of Newport Beach, California. The family would especially thank all their friends and neighbors for their love and support. A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 7, 2012 at 10:30 am at Wilson's Chapel of the Roses, Roseburg, Oregon.
