Roberta Cole

Roberta "Bobbie" Cole, 94, of Roseburg, Oregon passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 29, 2014.

She was born in Oakland, OR, on Sept. 11, 1919, to Robert and Nancy Powell. Bobbie graduated from Oakland High School in 1937 and dreamed of being a scientist. She married Albert Cole, on November 8, 1964 and they traveled every chance they got.

Bobbie is survived by her brother Carter Powell and two children; Mavis Vernon and Brenda Land and three step children; Eddy Cole, Billy Cole, and Bonnie McCarthy. She also leaves behind three grandchildren; Tracey Miller, Bill Stock, and Tammy Talton. Additionally, she had many great grandchildren and step grandchildren.

Bobbie was a beloved member of the community and could frequently be found enjoying baseball at the American Legion Ball Park, volunteering at the Senior Center, and attending Wesleyan Women. She was one of the first members of the Roseburg Koi Club and an active member of The Eastern Star.

Her favorite stories are of backpacking in Lassen National Park with her daughter, visiting Japan with her oldest daughter, going to every new restaurant that opened with her granddaughter, and traipsing around with her great-grandsons. She was also an avid walker and she tried to walk at least a mile everyday.

She loved animals and spoiled: 2 dogs, 3 cats, 2 birds, and a tank full of fish. She also collected frogs and over the years cherished several hundred from all around the world.

The service will take place at The First United Methodist Church at 10 a.m. on Saturday May 3rd.
