ROY WAYNE TROUP JR., 90 of Roseburg, Oregon passed away Sunday, September 11, 2011. He was born October, 7, 1920 in Seattle, Oregon to Captain Roy W. and Louise Troup Sr. Roy completed Oak Bay High School, the Vancouver School of Art and U.S. Army Air Corps Technical School. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during WW II. Roy worked as a graphic design artist for the advertising industry. He founded his own small agency called Big West Studios in Hollywood, California during the 1950's. Roy has lived in Seattle, Washington, Victoria, B.C. Canada, Vancouver, B.C. Canada, Las Angeles, California and for the last 40 years in Roseburg, Oregon. He published a local newsletter featuring politics, events and personalities. Roy called himself and the newsletter "The Roadrunner". He also loved to write and publish history articles, biographies, and fictional docu-novels the "Johnny Shaheen Series". Roy also enjoyed walking, reading, politics, art, and traveling. He had a big interest in automobiles and planes. Roy received his pilot's license in 1947. Survivors include Darlene Troup; son Bobby Troup; step-daughter Debbie Gowey and her husband Kevin; step-sons Gary, Rick and Ken Brown; sister Sonia Ridley and her husband Robert; nephews Charles, Ian and Eric Ridley. Roy was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Francis "Duke" Troup. Memorial services will be held Saturday, October 1, 2011 at 1:00 pm at Open Door Christian Fellowship. Pastor Tim Lawrence will officiate. The family would like to make a special thank you to The Morning Sun Adult Foster Home for the wonderful care they provided for Roy. Private cremation rites have been held.
