Ruth I. Ellenwood Age 82, of Roseburg, lost her courageous battle with cancer on Saturday, September 18, 2010. She was born on August 23, 1928, in Yampa, Colorado. Ruth is a 1946 graduate of Roseburg High School, and aside from a brief job as a bank teller early in her marriage to Robert Ellenwood (recently deceased), spent her life as a homemaker. Ruth was known for her loving nature, good humor, contagious laugh, and generous heart. She lived for spending time with her growing family, especially on holidays! Ruth was an avid bowler for many decades, and still bowled on a league up until the fall of 2009. She spent her time reading, sewing for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, but her favorite times were spent with her many great-grandchildren, and SHOPPING! Ruth is survived by her four siblings: Naomi Schulze, Neal Meyer, Jr., Shirley Astry, and June Astry, all of Roseburg, children Dale and Joanne Ellenwood, Larry Ellenwood, and Julie and Rusty Brizendine, all of Roseburg, and Sharon and Doug Stone of Portland, had 14 grandchildren, and 34 great-grandchildren (and counting!). A celebration of life Open House will be held at the family home on Saturday, October 9, 2010 from 1 to 3 p.m.
