Shane passed away at his home unexpectedly on Friday, April 28, 2023. He is survived by his wife Denise, mother Phyllis Slayer, brothers Murray Slayer and Curtis Bajema, father Dennis Bajema, mother-in-law Jean Allen, sister-in-law and her husband, Lynette and Kevin Barrett, and two nieces Kylie and Kaitlyn. He is preceded in death by the man who raised him, his stepfather Stephen Slayer. Shane was an exceptional person, loved by many. He was a prolific artist, poet and writer. Shane interacted with many people throughout the Pacific Northwest at various events featuring his artwork and poetry for 40+ years. He made friends with almost every person he met.
There will be a viewing at Wilson’s Chapel of Roses in Roseburg on Friday, May 12, from 12 to 2 p.m. for anyone who would like to attend. Saturday, May 13, we will be gathering at the Calapooia Country Church, at 141 Scott Henry Rd, in Oakland, Oregon, from 1 to 3 p.m. for reminiscing and story sharing. Shane will be taken from the Church to Cedar Hill Cemetery in Oakland for his final resting place. We will return to the Calapooia Club House (next to the church) for a reception with snacks and refreshments. All are welcome to attend.
