Our sweet wife and mama, Shirley May Christie, went to be with the Lord on August 16, 2018, at the age of 84.
Shirley was born on May 3, 1934, and brought up with two brothers, Marvin and Donald Lee. She attended Wilbur Grade School and Roseburg High School.
Shirley married Allen Christie at the Wilbur United Methodist Church in 1950. They raised two daughters, Bonnie and Sharon. After living in Washington, her family moved to Grants Pass.
Shirley worked at the Golden Rule department store for 20 years and, after retiring, returned to Wilbur.
Shirley loved staying in touch with friends and family. Hospitable and generous, she told funny stories, remembered birthdays, and shared delicious recipes. An active member of the Wilbur Methodist Church, she played the organ, coordinated the weekly coffee hour, and also sent cards to welcome visitors. At home she baked, embroidered, took care of her beautiful flowers, and watched the birds with her beloved husband.
Shirley is survived by her husband Allen; her two daughters Bonnie and Sharon; her brother Marvin; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren; as well as several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Her memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., August 25, 2018, at Wilbur Methodist Church, 757 N. Bank Rd., Wilbur, OR.
