Theodore "Ted" Martin Kolberg, 83, of Sutherlin, Oregon, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 12, 2024. He was born on Nov. 4, 1940, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the ninth of ten children with four sisters and five brothers. Ted moved to Roseburg, Oregon, when he was 13 years old. He attended Roseburg High School and played third base for the American Legion Junior Baseball team when they were Oregon state runners up in 1957.He later graduated from the University of Oregon with a bachelor's and master's degree in science. Ted served in the United States Army, from 1967-1970, and was an active-duty officer in charge during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged as a First Lieutenant having received The Bronze Star Medal twice. Ted lived in Portland for 44 years. He worked for PGE as director of public relations and later as the maître d at Ricardo's Italian Restaurant in Lake Grove. Ted was an avid outdoorsman who loved the Pacific Northwest where he spent much of his time fishing and hunting. He also enjoyed and participated in many sports including tennis, running, and skiing. Later in life he found love at The Oktoberfest at Oaks Park in Portland after he noticed a woman from across the room and asked her to dance. They were married on June 17, 2012, and moved to Sutherlin shortly after where he spent the remainder of his life. He is survived by his wife Debrah, and his brothers Tom and Bud; and loved by Debrah's family which includes her three children and four grandchildren. Ted will be forever missed. A service will be held at 9 a.m. Friday, July 19, 2024, at the Roseburg National Cemetery. <
