Todd Calvin and Christine "Tina" Lorraine Gilman, both age 50, of Sutherlin, Oregon, went to be with Jesus on October 20th, 2014.
Todd was born in Roseburg, Oregon on November 20th, 1963 to Tomas and Sharon Gilman of Sutherlin. Tina was born in Roseburg, Oregon on May 14th, 1964 to George and Janet Cross of Sutherlin. Todd and Tina were married on April 27th, 1985 at St. Francis Xavier in Sutherlin. They were survived by and were proud parents of four children, Jenna, Dane, and their twins, Jake and Jaqui and grandparents to Sophia, Eli, EllieMae and Haylie. Todd was also survived by his father, Tomas Gilman, his sisters Tomilynn Ross, Tonia Zink, and Trayia Gilman and many other nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother Sharon Gilman. Tina was also survived by her mother Janet Cross, her brothers and sisters, Kathy Tipton, Ron Cross, Rick Cross, Connie Knight, and Carolyn Conn and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father George Cross and her brother Robert Cross.
Todd was a 1982 graduate of Sutherlin High School. He joined the United States Army after graduation and was on active duty until 1984. Todd then was on Reserve until he was officially honorably discharged from the service in 1988. Todd worked with his father at Pacific Northwest Steel Construction and the Henry Family as a mechanic until 1997. That same year, Todd began working for LoneRock Timber as a mechanic and was easily recognized throughout Douglas County driving his big green work truck. Todd was well known for his boisterous voice, uncanny sense of humor and huge heart who would welcome anyone.
Tina was also a 1982 graduate of Sutherlin High School. After graduation, Tina attended Umpqua Community College for 2 years. Tina had an incredible love for her family and was a housewife and mother of four children for all of her married years. Tina was involved with her kid's sporting activities and other events and loved her grandbabies greatly. Tina had a soft heart and warm spirit who welcomed anyone who stopped by the house or visited with her.
Todd and Tina Gilman were well known throughout the community as very supportive parents and were a unique couple who were perfect for one another. They will be greatly missed by all of their friends and family who are forever grateful that they both loved Jesus, and know they are in His loving arms.
Friends and family are deeply touched by the outpouring of support from our community. We want to thank you all and welcome you to attend a memorial service and celebration of their lives at 1:00 pm on Saturday, November 1st, 2014 at the Sutherlin High School Gymnasium. There will also be a mass on Friday, October 31st, 2014 at St. Francis Xavier in Sutherlin at 1:30 pm for friends and family. In lieu of flowers, there has been a memorial fund set up at First Community Credit Union.
