Velma F. Silva was born in Dorsey, Nebraska to John H. Gifford and Ethel M. Collins on August 19, 1930. She went to be with her Lord & Savior Jesus on March 16, 2016. She joins her parents and her five brothers; four sisters; one son Harold; and one grandson Kyle in Heaven. Survivors include eldest daughter Susan Otter; second daughter Diana Matsen; youngest daughter Teresa Ward, all of Roseburg, Oregon. Velma also has five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren whom she dearly loved, and her faithful companion her dog Joey.
Velma lived her life for her one true love, Jesus. She had a zest for life and serving others. She wore many hats from kindergarten teacher to Sunday school teacher and Sunday school superintendent, VBS Coordinator and also a foster care provider. She was a bible study minister, mentor, mother, and friend. She will be greatly missed by all that had known her.
Funeral service will be 11 AM. Thursday, March 24, 2016 at Faith Family Fellowship, 1643 SE Jackson. Visitation will be at Wilson's Chapel of the Roses on Wednesday 2PM until 5 PM.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations can be made for family for funeral expenses.
