.Vere Harlan Perry Jr. Died February 17, 2015
He was born November 18, 1920 in Ashland, Oregon to Vere H. and Marion J. (Decker) Perry. His mother remembered Dr. Swedenburg saying "Two o'clock, just in time for the Shrine parade". He was a retired locomotive fireman and engineer employed thirty nine years by Southern Pacific Railroad.
He was a member of the First Christian Church, Laurel Lodge No. 13 AF and AM, Hillah Shrines and other Masonic bodies, the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers, The National Rifle Association and Roseburg Rod and Gun Club.
Vere graduated from Roseburg High School in 1938 and attended Southern Oregon College of Education in Ashland. On June 24, 1982 he married Mary Ellen Collison, who survives him, also survived by step-daughter Kathy Howington and her husband, Gary, a son in law Orviele Miller, several cousins. He is predeceased by his parents, one brother Eugene C. Perry and step daughter Cora Lynn Miller.
He enjoyed hiking, fishing and especially the Stellako River in Central British Columbia, hunting, working crossword puzzles and pursuing railroad history in the Western United States and Canada.
