Virginia Jane Travis Straw Virginia was born in Jackson, MI on Feb, 21, 1926, and passed away on Sept. 21, 2010 in Oakland, OR. After Virginia received her RN degree, she and Gerald C. Straw were married on April 5, 1947. Virginia and Gerald operated Straw's Nursery and Landscaping business in Jackson, MI. After the family moved to Maui, HA, in 1965, she founded the first home health care program on Maui. She served as a Public Health Nurse in North Douglas County after moving to the Roseburg area in 1976. Virginia was a fine keyboardist and vocalist who entertained with Gerald in Michigan, Hawaii, and Oregon. She artistically designed and decorated three beautiful homes that she and Gerald built in Michigan, Hawaii and Umpqua, OR. Virginia was preceded in death by her parents Fred and Dorothy Travis and her half-brother, Howard Travis. She is survived by Gerald Straw of Roseburg, OR, her husband of 63 years, and her sister Carol (Travis) Reynolds and her husband Ted Reynolds of North Carolina. She is survived by her sons: Mark Straw of Oakland, OR, Thad Straw of Roseburg, OR, Donald Straw of the Philippines. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Lori and Jenny Straw of Hawaii, Bennett Langsdorf of Corvallis, OR, Andrew Straw of Fairbanks, AK, Becky (Straw) Glodt of Salem, OR, Christopher Straw of Roseburg, OR, and numerous great grandchildren. Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, October 1, 2010 at Wilson's Chapel of the Roses, Roseburg, OR.
