Virginia Wright
On October 20, 2018 Virginia Wright passed away. Born August 29, 1926 Virginia was the eldest child of James and Myra Rose. A lifetime resident of Douglas County, Virginia was a graduate of Days Creek High School. She was united in marriage in September of 1944 to John Wright of Milo, Oregon. They made their home in Myrtle Creek, raised their children there and remained together until John’s passing in 1995. Virginia would, at times, work outside the home primarily in a bookkeeping capacity, but also in the sale of ladies apparel.
Virginia was an active member of both the Eastern Star and the Daughters of the Nile. To both organizations she made an enduring commitment. Over the years she played many roles within each group. When those roles took on leadership responsibilities she was always mindful of the support and good will extended to her by fellow members. Above all else, family and the bonds of friendship were of paramount importance and central to her life.
Virginia was preceded in death by her husband John and her sister Doreen Brickey. She is survived by her brother Charles Rose of Roseburg, her daughter Bonnie McManis and granddaughter Allison McManis both of Oakland, California, her son Gary of Roseburg and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services for Virginia will be held at 11 AM, November 10, 2018 at Wilson’s Chapel of the Roses in Roseburg. In lieu of flowers the family would encourage a possible donation to the Daughters of the Nile Foundation.. Please visit Virginia’s web site at
