Walter Bardsley passed away at his home in Camas Valley on Monday, September 1, 2014 at the age of 93. He was born October 24, 1920 to Samuel and Margaret Bardsley in San Francisco, California. He resided in San Francisco until he joined the U.S. Navy in 1939. He had known his future wife growing up in the same neighborhood in San Francisco. They lost contact for a while and it wasn't until after he joined the Navy that they had been reintroduced and fell in love. He was married for 63 years and now both are joined together in eternity. Walter proudly served in the U.S. Navy for 22 years. He served in WWII aboard the U.S.S. Pennsylvania and was a survivor of the attack at Pearl Harbor. He also served in the Korean War. He retired as a Chief Warrant Officer (CWO-2) in 1961 and made San Diego his home until 2006 when his wife passed away. He then moved to Camas Valley to be with his daughter and son-in-law. Walter is survived by his two daughters, two grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Walter never met a stranger and always had a smile on his face. He was a loving husband, devoted father, and a great patriot.
