William James Evans

William James Neiro Evans Age 86 of Roseburg, Oregon, passed away Wednesday, December 29, 2010. Born to William and Jeanette Neiro in Nyack, New York, on March 9, 1924.
At age six Jeanette and LeRoy (Pop) Evans moved their family to the west coast. He married Esther Katherine Johnson on July 1, 1951 in Roseburg. They moved to Elgarose in 1964. Bill served as EM 1/C in U.S. Navy in both WWII and the Korean War on USS Columbia and USS Dixie.
Survivors include wife, Esther Evans: son, Jim Evans and wife, Francis; daughter, Shannon Hull and husband, Michael; sister, Jacqueline Denmark and husband, Russ; brothers-in-law, Richard Calkins and Clarence Tressler. Also, nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held Friday, January 7th, 2011, at 2 p.m. At Eagle Point National Cemetery. A memorial celebration potluck style will be held Saturday, January 8th, 2011, from 12 p.m. - 3 p.m. at St. Josephs Church.
