William Rudolph "Wil" Evenich

March 14, 1941 — May 2, 2016

William (Wil) Evenich, left us for heaven on May 2, 2016, after a long battle with cancer. Our family lost a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. Wil was born in Louisville, Colorado to Mary and John Evenich on March 14, 1941. The family moved to Dragerton, Utah, where Wil was raised with nine siblings and was a star athlete at Carbon High School.
After school, Wil left for California. He attended journeyman school and became a carpenter. Wil has three children that were raised in Petaluma. He was a 4-H leader and President of the Novato Horsemen's Association. He participated in Petaluma High School Football and was a Rodeo clown for Cotton Rosser and the Flying U Rodeo Company.
In 1982, Wil met his second wife and soul mate, Debbie. They both attended a country dance and it was love at first sight during their dance together. They were married and spent 34 wonderful years together. Wil and Debbie Taught country dance lessons for ten years at the Green Mill Inn Restaurant in Penngrove, California. They loved to dance together and held many country dance parties and competitions. They also traveled back and forth to Nashville, being involved in the music business.
Wil was a General Contractor by then and worked in the Napa/Sonoma area and in the San Francisco bay area. Wil built Debbie a beautiful country home in Petaluma. They were very active at St. Joseph's Church in Cotati, California. Wil was President of the men's club, a lector and headed up many church festivals. Wil coached basketball at the Boys and Girls Club of Petaluma. Wil enjoyed pitching and had many men's softball teams that won tournaments in Petaluma each Summer. Wil and Debbie were avid San Francisco Giants and 49er fans.
When Wil retired, they moved to Roseburg, Oregon. Wil loved to fish, camp, grow grapes, and a large garden every summer on their country property. Wil taught woodworking classes at Umpqua Community College, during the summer sessions. Wil belonged to the Roseburg Elks Lodge #326 and was very active in the lodge. Being a contractor, he helped with many construction projects at the lodge. He ran the Elks Bingo at the Douglas County Fair for many years and he was the creator of the Elks Lodge Haunted House (Fright Night), which still continues today, for the community to enjoy each October.
Wil is survived by his wife, Debbie, of Roseburg, Oregon. His children, Gina, Ron (Becky) and Lolli Evenich. Grandchildren, Hailee, Beau and Jake Hankins, Shelby, Ty and Sharee Evenich and great-grandson, Isiah Evenich, all of Petaluma, California. He is survived by his in-laws, three sisters and three brothers, numerous nieces and nephews and his beloved border collies, Cloe and Guch, who will continue to watch over the country property for him.
Wil will be remembered for his smile, laugh, loving friendship and his willingness to always help others.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, July 16, 2016 at 1 pm at the Roseburg Elks Lodge, 749 SE Jackson Street, Roseburg, Oregon.
