Son of Alfred and Lolar Coble was born December 22, 1923, in Miami, Oklahoma, and died Thursday, December 1, 2011, in Roseburg, Oregon.
Willis is survived by his wife of 64 years, Lucille (Broadwater) Coble; children, Phyllis Coble, Kenneth and wife, Billie Coble; brothers, Alfred and wife, Barbara Coble, Lawrence and wife, Joyce Coble; grandchildren, Heather (Coble) and husband, Larry Young, Bree (Coble) and husband, JP Peckham, Christopher and wife, Kendra Coble, Dan Malek, Kris Malek; great-grandchildren, Brett, Shyla and Cody Young, Joslin Peckham, Braddock Coble, Jace, Tate, Wiley, Alyssa, Madison Malek; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by sisters, Gladys Coble, Martha (Coble) Broadwater, and brothers, Frank Coble, Lester Coble, Dave Coble, Harvey Coble, Wilford (Pete) Newman, Gilford (Red) Newman and Roy Alberty.
Willis joined the Civilian Conservation Corps stationed in Colorado, worked on railroads in southern California, served in the U.S. Army in Europe during WWII before moving to Oregon where he worked in the lumber industry, retiring from Roseburg Forrest Products. He was a member of the Royal Order of the Moose, the Douglas County Mounted, loved fishing, horses, farming and spoiling his grandchildren.
Services will be held 10:30 a.m. on Friday, December 9, 2011, at Wilson's Chapel of the Roses. Viewing is from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Thursday, December 8, 2011.
