On June 1, 2012, Winifred Winni' Marie Young, went to be with those others we have lost, after a hard fought battle with cancer. Winni was born in 1954 in Pawnee, Nebraska to LenaBelle and William French and moved to Coos Bay, Oregon, when she was a little girl. She lived there until she met her soul mate Thomas Young in 1974. Tom and Winni moved to Riddle, Oregon and were married on March 12, 1977. When they married, Winni gained her first son, Wade. Tom and Winni had their first and only daughter Amanda (Amy), in June of 1977. In December of 1982, they welcomed their second son Joel into the world. In 1988, Tom and Winni set off on their adventure' to Hawaii, where they lived in Nanakuli, until 1992. While in Hawaii, they had their third son Matthew. In 1992, they made their home in Tenmile, where they spent 20 years sharing a loving life together. Winni worked for years at the Wildlife Safari, and then as the Human Resources Manager at Sears before she was diagnosed with cancer in September of 2011. Winni is survived by her husband Tom, her son Wade Young and his wife Caroline of Vass, North Carolina, her daughter Amy Taggart and her husband Kevin, of Winston, Oregon, her son Joel Young and his fiance Amanda Benton, of Coconut Creek, Florida, her son Matthew Young of Winston, Oregon, her brother Andy French and his wife, Debi of Lakeside, Oregon, her sister LaFaye Engle and her husband David of Salem, Oregon. Winni has five grandchildren; Mitch Young, Sara Taggart, Rebecca Taggart, Anna Taggart, and Taylor Exceen.
There will be a celebration of Winni's life on Saturday, June 9, 2012, at Wilson's Chapel of the Roses on Harvard Avenue starting at 11:00 a.m. The family welcomes everyone who knew Winni to come and share stories and celebrate the life of this incredible woman.
